PODCAST REVIEW:

The topic of the podcast, Veterans' Stories: Remembering the D-Day Invasion focuses on the stories and experiences of two World War II veterans, Jesse Beazley and Louis Bower, who were both serving in the D-Day invasion. The podcast is presented with bits of narration that provide background information and suspense to the veterans' stories and smoothly transitions to the actual recorded interview of the veterans' stories that provide more intricate, personal detail of their experiences during the D-Day invasion throughout the podcast. As the veterans are sharing their stories, faded sounds of what could be assumed as aircraft and military vehicles could be heard in the background. Whether this was intentional or unintentional in the podcast, this complemented the story because those were probably sounds that could be heard constantly by these people during the actual D-Day invasion and it was creating that environment during the podcast. In a way, the sounds could be haunting because as a D-Day veteran, little things such as sounds could trigger flashbacks and memories of the war because of how realistic it sounds. This podcast is a good form of presenting this particular topic because of how important this period in military history is - it is not to be treated lightly. The podcast was presented in a respectful way towards these, and all veterans of D-Day. The narrator continuously emphasized to the listeners how important the stories of veterans are and reminded how we should continuously honor and listen to them not just on Veterans Day, but everyday. There are not any pieces of information that are missing - there was a good amount of introductions, background information and insights provided by the interviewer and interviewees. Overall, I truly enjoyed this podcast because it was very intriguing to listen to honorable primary sources of the historical D-Day invasion.
